This colonial City was the capital of all Central America. It was founded in the early 16th century. The 3rd. University of the new continent and one of the first printing presses were located here. In 1773, Santa Martha earthquake destroyed part of the City and then the capital was moved to the place where it is now.

DISTANCE:  Ii is located at 31 miles (50 kms.) from Guatemala City.
